Speedlight SB-103
SB-103 TTL Marine (Underwater) Speedlight
THIS
SPEEDLIGHT WAS RECALLED BY NIKON - Recall notice follows
All NIKONOS
Speedlight SB-103 (excluding Sync Cord, Bracket and Wide Adapter
SW-103) 66,073 units manufactured from June, 1984 through July,
1994
"Please be informed
that the NIKONOS Speedlight SB-103, of which sales ended
November, 1994, has been identified as a potential source of
accident. If the product is used in full compliance with the
instructions and cautions in the instruction manual, there will
be no problem. In rare cases, however, if charged and uncharged
NiCd batteries are used together, hydrogen gas may be discharged
by the batteries. If this gas then mixes with air inside the body
of the SB-103, it is possible that the mixed gas could be
ignited by an electric spark at the time of firing, causing a
burst of the flash head. In order to prevent such an accident
from occurring, Nikon is seeking to withdraw the SB-103
(excluding Sync Cord, Bracket and Wide-Adapter SW-103) from
active use and replace it with the SB-105. If you own one
of these products -- the SB-103 -- we ask that you contact
the Nikon distributor / importer in your country. Please
note that this offer of exchange is only available for the SB-103
Speedlight. We ask for your understanding in regards to this
matter, and deeply apologize for any inconvenience. We look
forward to continuing to serve you with the world's finest
quality photographic products."
