Photo Workshops with Thom Hogan

Thom's workshops for 2004.

If you want to know more about how I conduct workshops, see this page. For more on an individual workshop, click on it's name in the Where column.

Note: clicking on the Add to Cart button adds the $100 non-refundable deposit to your shopping cart ($450 for Alaska, but that includes a partially refundable room deposit), not the whole workshop fee.

A couple of notes:

  • I do not currently plan on offering any additional workshops in 2004 (i.e., the ones listed below are the full list). Thus I won't be doing my usual fall workshops in Utah in 2004. This may change, but I'm trying to build in some time in my schedule to pursue several personal projects.
  • For workshops in 2005 and beyond, I probably won't announce a new schedule until spring/summer of 2004. When I do, expect there to be significant changes in my deposit/payment/refund policies.

Workshops with Openings
March 18, 2004 (dinner) to March 21, 2004 (lunch) Anza Borrego State Park, CA 3-day workshop in Anza Borrego State Park (near LA and San Diego). This is one of my favorite places to photograph, actually. There's more here than you might think. Target: spring blossoms in the desert. Some modest hiking (3 mile roundtrip). 4 students. Figure $100 night lodging. Closest airport: Palm Springs (my usual choice) or San Diego. LA airports also not much further.

$690 Full

March 25, 2004 (dinner) to March 28, 2004 (lunch) Death Valley National Park, CA 3-day workshop in Death Valley National Park. Target: sand dunes, Zabriske Point, Devils Golf Course, and more (perhaps Race Track if conditions allow it). Mid-days spent in shaded hotel grounds doing exercises. Excellent workshop for people working on compositional skills. 4 students. Figure $250 night lodging. Closest airport: Las Vegas. $699 Full
April 1, 2004 (dinner) to April 4, 2004 (lunch) Anza Borrego State Park, CA 3-day workshop in Anza Borrego State Park (near LA and San Diego). May 13-16 Big Sur/Pt. Lobos, CA Special 4 day workshop for returning students. 5 students. Figure $100 night lodging. Full
August 1 (lunch) to August 6 (dinner) Denali National Park, Alaska 5+ day workshop in Denali National Park. We will stay at far end of road near Wonder Lake (the famous Ansel Adams shot is within walking distance). Four of our days will be spent at North Face Lodge, the premiere facility in the Kantishna area. Besides great facilities, views, and gourmet food (yes), the staff includes naturalists, guides, and other folk you'll find friendly and helpful. Cost includes 90-mile bus ride through park to the facility that's better (smaller, more flexible, en-route dinner!) than the NPS provides. 4 students. Figure $400 night for all food and lodging for 4 nights, half that or less for the fifth. Spouses can be accomodated at the lodge as long as space is still available (it is at the moment--and there's plenty to do and the staff and facilities are wonderful and first class), though they'll be on their own some of the time. In order to stay at this great facility, four of us must double up on rooms (i.e., only one single room is available, and it will carry a single supplement of $100/night for four nights). Closest airport: Anchorage or Fairbanks (take the train to the park for an additional Alaskan experience!).

$899 (a $450 deposit is required to book, which includes the cost of one night's food and lodging; $250 of the deposit is refundable up to 30 days prior to departure)
